As a born and bred Northern boy, the references in Christopher Shannon's new menswear collection are all too familiar. 'Refined scallyism' as he calls it. But if you're more about layered nylons and tassled sweatshirts than casual aggression and getting teenagers pregnant then this may be right up your street. Speaking of streets, this is another one of those directional streetwear collections that I am so fond of - if you dont believe me see how many times I have used that phrase on this blog. Style Icon - Kurt Cobain

As this week was the anniversary of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain's death, I thought it was only fair to feature him in my soon-to-be regular feature 'Style Icons'. I'm sure he would be so proud to be featured on a blog like this. You're welcome Kurt. Grunge style is as big today as it was in the late 80s and 90s so the next time you throw on some battered jeans and a band t shirt then spare a thought for the man himself, and maybe listen to Lithium.

Aqua by Aqua Spring / Summer '12 Women's Lookbook

So yesterday I featured the new Spring / Summer men's lookbook for London based brand Aqua by Aqua and today is the turn of the womenswear collection. For those familiar with the brand, this collection - entitled 'Electric Dreams' - is a slight departure from their past work, but still has that Aqua signature. This season the brand have embraced more print, and are exploring separates more thoroughly. No longer shall you only venture to Aqua for a statement dress. Oh no. And now there are accessories too - like the Electric Dreams belt featured below. There is also a Scott Wilson colloboration in the form of earrings, necklaces, rings and cuffs. You lucky things. This is one for the boys. London based brand Aqua by Aqua have released their new season lookbooks, and the outlook is sporty with a hint of print. Airtex fabrics and matching printed shirts and shorts are the focal points of the collection, with some graphic tees, breton stripes and denim shorts providing those Spring / Summer staples. This season I will mostly be wearing mesh vests with matte swimming shorts. Can't wait.
