Creative Focus: Lisa Stannard

Over the last few weeks I've been spending a lot of time on FASHION156 and I have been inspired to say the least. They regularly feature the work of creatives in photography, art and illustration and often use emerging talent, showcasing their work to a large audience. So I have decided to do the same. Share and share alike I say. So the first in my Creative Focus series is the fashion illustrator LISA STANNARD. She is one talented lady and has been on my radar for some time. Stannard started her career with a degree in textiles, and has specialised in illustration and print design, working with Lily Allen on the launch of her clothing store Lucy In Disguise and has been commisioned for many freelance projects.

She is most famous for her work with Whitney Port, who you may remember from MTV's The City, and designs prints for her Whitney Eve clothing collection. Her signature style of bright and semi-abstract feminine florals and stylistic portraiture has seen her emerge as an industry-leader in the field of fashion illustration and print design. Below are some examples of her work, from her freelance projects to her most recent work for Whitney Eve. Feast your eyes.

Maarten Van Der Horst for Topshop

For those familiar with Fashion East, you will be aware of the work of London-based womenswear designer Maarten Van Der Horst. His Spring/Summer collection has landed in Topshop this week, with hawaiian prints and hot-pink cycling shorts a plenty. The collection is available in the Oxford Circus store, as well as online HERE.

Christopher Shannon Menswear at Ok-ni

As a born and bred Northern boy, the references in Christopher Shannon's new menswear collection are all too familiar. 'Refined scallyism' as he calls it. But if you're more about layered nylons and tassled sweatshirts than casual aggression and getting teenagers pregnant then this may be right up your street. Speaking of streets, this is another one of those directional streetwear collections that I am so fond of - if you dont believe me see how many times I have used that phrase on this blog. But anyway enough about me... feast your eyes on this. All available online at OKI-NI.

Aqua by Aqua Spring / Summer '12 Women's Lookbook

So yesterday I featured the new Spring / Summer men's lookbook for London based brand Aqua by Aqua and today is the turn of the womenswear collection. For those familiar with the brand, this collection - entitled 'Electric Dreams' - is a slight departure from their past work, but still has that Aqua signature. This season the brand have embraced more print, and are exploring separates more thoroughly. No longer shall you only venture to Aqua for a statement dress. Oh no. And now there are accessories too - like the Electric Dreams belt featured below. There is also a Scott Wilson colloboration in the form of earrings, necklaces, rings and cuffs. You lucky things. Make sure you head over to AQUA BY AQUA to shop the collection.
