Men's Shoe Library Launches at My-Wardrobe.com

This week saw the launch of the men's Shoe Library at MY-WARDROBE, giving us guys the same level of choice and service that is usually reserved for women. Men like shoes too you know! The library is broken down into categories making it extremely easy to find what you are looking for, or find suggestions if you're not sure what you are after. To browse through the site's impressive roster of shoes then simple select 'Shoe Search' and be faced with page after page of sneakers, brogues, boots and slip-ons...the choice is endless.

However if this array of choice leaves you overwhelmed then the 'Style Guide' provides suggestions based on what you may be currently wearing, or what you would need the shoes to wear with. Shorts, casual jeans, sweats or chinos, there is a selection of shoes to pair each with, making it easy for customers to make the right choices. If you are still a little confused or need some extra help, then the 'FAQ and Glossary' page answers many questions that men have posed, from technical considerations to styling choices. The glossary page also provides an A-Z of shoes and jargon, so if you ever needed to know what an 'Austerity Brogue' is - look no further.

The 'Shoe Anatomy' page also goes into detail about the construction of shoes, and explains the components and their purpose. Great for those wanting a little more understanding of the technical side of things. If you don't know your welting from your tongue, then give this a look.

As I said before, the library of shoes is impressive and I have picked my 5 favourites from the roster.

On My Radar #1

Coming right up is the first in my new feature 'On My Radar', which features a few nice pieces, collections, places to visit etc. that are, erm, on my radar. Think of it as a showcase of things that have caught my eye this month!

Acne Spring/Summer '12 Capsule Collection. A vision in all-white, this capsule collection is comprised of wearable separates that have the effortless Acne signature. Sheer silk shirts, denim skirts and leather sandals form the perfect Spring look, and all-white is an easy trend to adopt this season. Available at ACNE.

The master of shoes himself has got girls everywhere all excited with the retrospective of his work at the Design Museum in London. Showcasing work from a career spanning 20 years, the retrospective also takes visitors through the design process, from initial sketches to finished prototypes. A must-see for shoe-enthusiasts. DESIGN MUSEUM.

Haircare brand Neal and Wolf recently came onto my radar when looking for some new products to invest in. The range attempts to combine professional quality and luxury without the massive price tag. There are shampoos and conditioners and styling and finishing products, and I can reccommend the Pliable Paste and Sculpting Lotion for shorter styles. Available at NEAL & WOLF.

I'm really into denim backpacks at the minute, and this one from the White Mountaineering x Porter collaboration is a treat. Used denim creates a worn feel, and you could squeeze a lot into it; a big packed lunch etc. The price tag is a bit steep but it may just be worth it. Available at OKI-NI.

Streetwear is one of the big trends this season in menswear, and I have been getting on board with it recently. On that note, streetwear e-tailer Street Casuals recently came into my life, offering clothing, accessories and bags from brands such as Dr Denim, Clae, Penfield and Obey. Check out their new season lookbook and shop online at STREET CASUALS.

Autumn / Winter trend alert: Gothic Luxe. Flowing black silks and tonal cream lace are edged out with heavy silver jewellery and studding. Maxi skirts, leather and sheer blouses are key. More on that story later...

If you're a fan of fashion illustration, then this exhibition will be right up your street. 'Go Figure' hosted  by the London College of Fashion features the work of 13 talented illustrators and will be open from 11th May - 14th July at the fashion space gallery. Inspring stuff. FASHION SPACE GALLERY.

Even though the weather is less than ideal, I'm still thinking ahead and attempting to get in the mood for summer, and these sunglasses from Retro Super Future are definitely on my radar for the hotter months. Everyone should invest in some decent sunnies and if you pick right they will last forever! Available at FARFETCH.

Speaking of getting in the mood for summer, these Givenchy hybrid gladiator sandals are high on my wish-list. Providing a masculine and futuristic twist on a classic, these sandals will also be versatile and wearable. I'll start saving up now... Available at FARFETCH.
