Style Icon: Francesco Cominelli

As I mentioned earlier, to celebrate the very first London Collections: Men happening this weekend, it's menswear takeover week here at My Style Ramblings. So my latest Style Icon post centres on one of menswear's biggest styling talents there has ever been, Francesco Cominelli. Vogue Hommes International's esteemed fashion editor, who sadly passed away last year, was a regular on street style blogs due to his impeccable talent of injecting interest into his dressing without resorting to garishness. Jak and Jil founder Tommy Ton, who was a close friend of Cominelli, said this on his style last year:

'Francesco has a way of wearing clothes in such a way that they become completely unidentifiable on him. You wouldn't know whether he's wearing Kenzo or Zegna or a market find; that's a gift of Francesco's styling abilities. He has fun layering and mixing patterns, textures and colours; and it's refreshingly young and sartorially playful at the same time.'

This says a lot coming from the man who can famously identify any piece down to its designer and season. Cominelli first came onto my radar a few years back, probably on Jak and Jil, and since then he has remained a constant source of style inspiration. Rest in Peace.
